Kiwanis Scholarships
|
Two separate funds were developed in 2002 to provide scholarships
to promising area students. The Dr. C.B. Mills Memorial-Kiwanis College Scholarship Fund benefits a Marysville
High School student, while the Sargent V. Chamberlain-Kiwanis College Scholarship Fund benefits a student from
Fairbanks High School.
These awards are based on qualities such as character, industriousness, class rank, perseverance, need, and integrity.
The Kiwanis Club continues to show their support of local students through the establishment of these generous
scholarships.

Charles W. Green Scholarship
Established
in July of 1999, Charles Green’s widow Marjorie, and his family members initiated this scholarship Fund. The Fund’s
goal is to support and award a Marysville High School senior each year who will enroll in agricultural, technical,
or a vocational field. Other considerations include need, academic achievement, and citizenship.
Great was the love Charles’ children had for their father. The Green adult
children; David, Marcia Welch, and Melissa Lamb, encouraged this Fund so that the memory of their beloved father
may live on in the lives of students who possess many of the same talents and aptitudes that he was blessed with.
Charles was a dairy, livestock, and grain farmer for more than 50 years in the Route 4 Blues Creek Road area of
Marysville. He could repair most mechanical items and fabricate tools to accomplish quality work efficiently. He
used his skills to solve many problems as well as help others solve their challenges. Mr. Green’s character and
work ethic are traits worthy of our youth modeling. |
