Volunteer Opportunities

Traditional Program
BBBS matches an adult volunteer (you!) who provides friendship and shares experiences with a child or youth in need of a friend.

Volunteers can be individuals, married couples or families.

Most of the boys and girls who are waiting for matches are between the ages of 5 and 14.

We are in need of adults who want to be a friend to a child and are at least 18 years of age or older, able to make a minimum one-year commitment and meet two times a month or more with their Little Brother or Little Sister (“Little”).

Community-Based Program
The Community-Based Program matches individuals, couples and families with youth between the ages of 5-14. As a positive role model, Big Brothers and Big Sisters get together with their Littles twice a month developing a friendship that will hopefully last a lifetime!!

The Union County Military Family Support Group was formed to provide support and activities to local military families. BBBS offers adult mentors to the children during the period their parent is deployed. Interested families enroll in the program and are involved in all program activities.

Friend-to-Friend Program
Volunteers are paired with a child from our Waiting List for a scheduled group activity.

Local activities include:
  • Valentine's Swim Party at the YMCA
  • Summer Picnic at Eljer Park
  • Leeds Pumpkin Farm
  • Holiday Party
  • Night at the Movies at the Marysville Public Library
Make It Big Team
Especially for our Bigs, the Make It Big Team is a monthly gathering of Big Brothers and Big Sisters that provides a fun environment for sharing, reflection and support through social and educational opportunities. Our goal is to encourage and foster the recruitment and retention of volunteers.

Other Volunteer Opportunities
A variety of opportunities are available throughout the year to help in the success of our Fundraising Events. BBBS can use support in areas that range from joining a committee, donating a door prize to becoming a sponsor.
  • Bowl For Kids’ Sake (April, 2017)
  • Blues Creek Golf Outing (August, 2017)
  • Big Brothers Big Sisters Annual Clay Shooting Event
Volunteers may assist staff with various Office Projects based on interests and skills.
